Nurture Teacher – fixed term until 26/06/2026
Rowanfield School – North of Edinburgh, part of the Craigroyston High School learning community. We support children aged 5‑12 with a range of additional support needs, including neurodivergent, trauma, and significant learning barriers.
Salary: £34,938 – £52,614 (pro‑rata for part time).
Hours:
23.1 per week.
We are looking for an enthusiastic nurture teacher with experience or a passion to make a difference in the life of a child. The successful candidate should be an excellent practitioner, have knowledge of the curriculum, and possess a track record of building relationships, raising attainment, and supporting pupils with diverse and complex needs. A sense of humour, creative thinking and resilience to rewarding challenges are essential.
Staff composition:
- 12 teaching staff (including HT, DHT & 2 PTs)
- 25 support staff (Pupil Support Workers, Pupil Support Officers, Administrator, Business Manager)
We collaborate closely with Allied Health Professionals and external agencies such as NHS SLT, Spartans, CAMHS, Youth Music Initiative, Drake Music & Queen Margaret University.
Our student population includes:
- 6 classes (Willow & Hawthorn) with pupils who have complex barriers to learning, trauma history and varying social & emotional needs
- 3 communication classes (Sycamore) for pupils with complex language and communication difficulties (e.g., ASD, developmental delay)
Regulated work with children and/or protected adults. The preferred candidate must join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. An Overseas Criminal Record Check may be required for those who have spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out of the UK in the last 5 years. Employment is conditional upon satisfactory completion of these checks.
