NHS Lothian is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best.
To this end, NHS Lothian welcomes applications from all sections of society.
We will fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.
Applications are welcome for the above fixed term, full (40 hours per week) post based in the Royal Edinburgh Hospital.
This post is available due to the expansion of the Inpatient Service. It runs for 6 months from the start of February 2026. The core task is to join the medical team, and wider MDT, to deliver in-patient care to people in Braids Ward at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. The wards/medical teams start each morning with a rapid rundown and this informs the activities required that day.
There is no on-call commitment with this post.
If interested applicants are looking for flexible working we would encourage them to contact us (see below for details). There are a range of opportunities that would facilitate less than full time working and NHS Lothian psychiatric services have a strong track record in supporting staff to develop their role and job plan through less than full time work.
There is an extensive local teaching programme that includes dedicated teaching sessions, a weekly case and a dedicated Balint (reflective practice) Group. Post-holders will have weekly psychiatric supervision alongside clinical supervision of day to day work as part of the MDT.
The post does not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean and will not be recognised for training.
