The Traverse Theatre is looking for an experienced Senior Technician to join our Production team and be responsible for the development & delivery of a wide range of events and productions.
Responsibilities- Work on Get Ins & Get Outs, including constructing sets
- Provide flying, including counterweight & hemp flying
- Operate and set-up of sound system & helping to programme QLab playback software
- Operating Lighting & Sound desks during performances & events
- Programming Lighting & Sound desks for Traverse productions
- Lead on updating all Production Health & Safety Risk Assessments
- Under direction of the Technical Manager & Head of Production to be responsible for Production Sessional Staff, Festival Stage Staff & Technicians, Trainees & Placements
- Carrying out show cover as Duty Technician for performances & events including evacuation procedures
- Rigging of lighting, sound & AV equipment
- Work with other departments to supply PA & AV requirements for conferences & room bookings
- Maintenance & safety of all working areas & equipment used by staff, visitors & contractors
- Undertake duties involved in tours & transfers outside Traverse Theatre & abroad where required
Our ideal candidate will be fully experienced in developing & delivering productions for main stage & studio spaces & installing/operating lighting & sound systems. With a proven track record of working towards staging events in the theatre industry you should have the ability to display & develop good working practices with a team of staff. You must be skilled in the use of QLab sound software, ETC Lighting Desks, working with audiovisual projection equipment & mixing live sound.
You must also have excellent communication & interpersonal skills & be a strong people manager.
This is a permanent, full-time position with a 6-month probationary period. Hours of work are 40 per week over 5 days, with the occasional 6th day during production weeks. Hours are flexible & will include daytime, evening & weekend working. Starting salary will be £31,000-£32,000 per annum, dependent on experience with overtime payments as appropriate. Annual leave is 32 days per annum, including public holidays.
An auto-enrolment contributory pension scheme is available with matched contributions at 4%.
