At Scottish Power, our people are the driving force behind everything we achieve. Their energy, expertise and ambition power our success — and we’re looking for individuals who share that passion to help shape the future of our Transmission business within SP Energy Networks.

With major investment underway and some of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in our history, our Transmission teams are delivering essential upgrades that will transform how electricity is moved across Central Scotland. From large‑scale overhead line developments to future‑focused network expansion, the work you’ll be involved in will play a vital role in enabling a cleaner, greener energy system.

What you’ll be doing

The Site Supervisor is a key role within our Transmission business, responsible for supervising construction activities during the delivery phase of SP Energy Networks’ major projects.

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will support the safe and efficient delivery of underground cable works across a range of complex infrastructure projects. This includes monitoring contractor performance, ensuring compliance with design and safety standards, and supporting day‑to‑day site coordination.

Project Delivery & Site Supervision

* Supervise and monitor delivery of contracted work packages, supporting the Site Manager to ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and CDM 2015.

* Review and monitor contractors’ lookahead programmes, interfaces and coordination requirements.

* Provide technical oversight to ensure construction methods align with engineering design, valid-for-construction drawings and relevant standards.

* Maintain accurate site records and progress reports.

* Monitor inspection and test plans (ITPs), quality checks, witness points and hold points, raising defects and non‑conformances where required.

Operational & Stakeholder Coordination

* Work collaboratively with Design Teams, Project Managers, Construction Managers and Site Managers to plan and monitor works.

* Coordinate activities to meet operational requirements in line with agreed system outages.

* Support customer and stakeholder engagement by providing regular updates to the Site Manager.

Safety, Environment & Compliance

* Ensure all works are carried out in line with health, safety and environmental legislation.

* Monitor environmental compliance, including waste management, pollution prevention, and licence requirements across the contractor supply chain.

* Adopt a flexible approach to shift patterns, site locations and out‑of‑hours working in line with project demands.

What You Will Bring

* Preferably, experience in underground cable construction — including duct installation, HDD works, joint bays, sealing ends, terminations and fibre optic connections.

* Transferable experience in street works, highways, utilities or low‑voltage installation will also be considered.

* Understanding of GS6, HSG
47, Temporary Works, and New Roads and Street Works Act.

* Ability to interpret valid-for-construction drawings and associated inspection/testing regimes.

* Strong quality assurance awareness and understanding of environmental requirements.

* Competent in Microsoft applications and digital communication tools such as Teams.

* Excellent leadership, influencing and planning skills.

* Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and CDM 2015 duty holder responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements:

* Site management/supervisor experience within construction, infrastructure or utilities.

* Strong IT skills.

* Full UK driving licence – travel required to sites

* Current SSSTS (2‑day) or SMSTS (5‑day) qualification.
