The RoleAs a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll take ownership of the commercial management of our projects, ensuring robust financial control and compliance from start to finish.
Working as part of our Structures team, you’ll play a key role in managing the financial and contractual elements of all structural works, from temporary works and enabling packages to complex structural alterations, basement construction, and strengthening works.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager for the division, you’ll oversee a range of financial elements, from preparing and reviewing cost plans and tender documentation to evaluating change events and managing risk.
Working closely with clients, subcontractors, structural engineers, and project teams, you’ll ensure commercial objectives are achieved, budgets are maintained, and JCT contracts are administered effectively.
This role will require travel between sites based in both London and surrounding counties. Driving licence and willingness to travel are essential.
Additionally you will:
- Lead on cost forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis, with particular emphasis on structural work packages.
- Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and performance, including specialist structural, RC frame, basement, steelwork, and temporary works contractors.
- Produce monthly valuations and maintain the risk and opportunity registers.
- Monitor and evaluate change events arising from structural design development, site conditions, and temporary works requirements.
- Ensure accurate measurement and valuation of structural works, including variations and remeasurements.
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders across the wider project team.
To be considered as a Quantity Surveyor, you will have:
- A minimum of five years’ experience in quantity surveying, ideally with a main contractor.
- Experience in prime residential projects and exposure to structural works (such as basements, temporary works, steelwork, RC frames, or structural alterations) is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of JCT contract forms and the ability to apply them to complex structural packages.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills, with confidence working alongside engineers and specialist structural subcontractors.
- A degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- A full UK driving licence and be willing to travel between our sites and head office in London and sites in the surrounding counties.
