Senior Quantity Surveyor - Refurbishment Contractor

Edinburgh

Attractive salary + profit‑led environment + genuine entrepreneurial progression

Are you a commercially sharp Quantity Surveyor looking for a role where you can truly influence profitability and be part of a growing, forward‑thinking contractor? A well‑established refurbishment specialist in Edinburgh is looking to appoint a Senior QS to play a key role in managing commercial performance across a diverse portfolio of projects.

About The Company

This is an independently owned, profitable contractor with a strong reputation across the Central Belt for high-quality refurbishment and fit‑out works. Their leadership team is entrepreneurial, ambitious, and committed to investing in people who want to step out of the ordinary “QS box” and take ownership of commercial strategy. They’re winning repeat business, expanding into new sectors, and have a strong pipeline of work‑making this a superb time to join.

The

Opportunity

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll be given full commercial responsibility for multiple refurbishment projects ranging from 250k to 4m+. This is not a tick‑box environment; you'll have influence, autonomy, and a voice in how the commercial function evolves.

You Will
  • Manage cost planning, forecasting, and budgeting from pre‑construction through to final account.
  • Lead subcontract procurement and negotiation to ensure optimum value.
  • Drive commercial strategy to maximise project profit while maintaining client satisfaction.
  • Work closely with operations and directors to provide informed, accurate commercial reporting.
  • Mentor junior staff as the team grows.
What You’ll Bring To Succeed
  • Strong refurbishment or main contracting experience.
  • A proactive, commercially minded approach.
  • Confidence in managing projects independently.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • A desire to work in a business where contribution is genuinely recognised.
Why Apply
  • Join a contractor where your decisions directly impact profitability.
  • Enjoy a flat, collaborative structure with direct access to the leadership team.
  • Genuine long‑term progression for individuals with entrepreneurial instincts.
  • Competitive package reflective of senior responsibility.
