Associate Building Surveyor

Bailey Partnership is an award‑winning consultancy that will recruit an Associate Building Surveyor for our Edinburgh office.

Established in 1971 and operating from 13 offices across the South of England, East Midlands, Manchester, Scotland and Gibraltar, we offer a wide range of professional services, including Architectural, Interior Design, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Fire Engineering, Project Management, Civil & Structural Engineering, Building Services Engineering and Town Planning.

About the Role

As an Associate Building Surveyor, you will manage a diverse workload, liaise directly with clients, develop new business opportunities and collaborate across disciplines. Regular site visits and meetings are essential to enable contractor interaction and client consultation in addition to typical office work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the completion of building surveys, condition reports, party wall surveys and dilapidation assessments.
  • Complete complex technical design detailing and draft construction information, including plans, sections and details.
  • Apply extensive building pathology knowledge to a wide range of building types, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
  • Meet with other professionals, clients and stakeholders to obtain and provide information regarding land, property or construction, upholding professionalism and consistency.
  • Perform critical defect analysis and provide expert recommendations.
  • Translate research data into financial reports and give informed recommendations for strategic decisions.
  • Coach, mentor and develop junior staff, potentially including line‑management responsibilities.
  • Participate in a growing consultancy with excellent progression opportunities.
