TJJD - Juvenile Correctional Officer II / III / IV - (EVN) - 55161

Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD) is looking for Juvenile Correctional Officers to provide supervision and direct care for youth in residential correctional facilities. Roles vary by level II, III, IV with increasing responsibility and complexity.

General Description

Provide supervision, direct care, and training for youth, employing trauma‑informed techniques. Assist youth with behavior, safety, and self‑regulation. Maintain secure environment and manage schedules.

Responsibilities
  • Engage in training to coach youth with trauma‑informed methods.
  • Hold youth accountable and teach socially acceptable responses.
  • Use good judgment to assess safety risks and determine interventions.
  • Help youth identify stress triggers and develop self‑regulation skills.
  • Provide basic knowledge of treatment plans and support goal attainment.
  • Coach conflict resolution among youth and staff.
  • Participate in teams to develop treatment plans.
  • Plan and monitor activities to promote healthy engagement.
  • Notify staff of behavioral and treatment conditions.
  • Provide services to potentially aggressive youth.
  • Physically restrain as necessary and conduct debriefing.
Qualifications
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Check.
  • Minimum qualifications include required education, licenses, and certifications (details on application).
  • Experience in correctional or related field preferred.
