The Infrastructure Operations Coordinator II is responsible for performing entry to intermediate-level work related to electronic and mechanical access control systems and video surveillance systems for county-wide departments. Responsibilities include assisting with installation, basic troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of access control lock systems and video systems to help secure and restrict access to critical County facilities and resources. This position works under general supervision and may assist senior coordinators with more complex system configurations and large-scale projects.

Assists with the installation of data equipment, including data racks, patch panels, and cable trays.

Pull, dress, terminate, label, and test copper twisted-pair cabling such as UTP and STP (Cat5e, Cat6) in commercial buildings and telecommunications rooms (TR) under supervision.

Assists in the installation of IP security cameras, IP access control devices, intercom systems, and related equipment.

Performs basic troubleshooting of access control and video security systems and escalates complex issues to senior staff as needed.

Assists with basic programming tasks, such as adding card readers, users, cameras, and door controllers to existing systems.

Performs routine maintenance and inspections of access control and video systems.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge of industry standards and County procedures.

Assists in reviewing materials and equipment lists for installations and service repairs.

Reports material or parts discrepancies to supervisors.

Maintains accountability for tools, equipment, and materials assigned.

Updates inventory records for parts and materials used in daily assignments.

Assists in maintaining building layouts and documentation related to inventory and building asset locations.

Completes assigned work orders accurately and in a timely manner using the County’s work order system.

Participates in on‑call rotation as required.

Education and Experience

Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university. Two (2) years of related experience may be substituted for one (1) year of education.

One (1) year of experience in a related field.

Certificates, Licenses and Registration

Must have a current valid Texas motor vehicle operator’s license.

Must be able to be insured by the County’s insurance carrier.

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of structured cabling systems and low‑voltage installations.

Basic understanding of IP‑based security systems and networking fundamentals.

Ability to identify problems and apply practical solutions under supervision.

Ability to follow technical instructions, diagrams, and building layouts.

Ability to work independently on routine tasks and as part of a team on larger projects.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to organize workload effectively and complete assignments with attention to detail.

Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.

Employee may be assigned other duties in addition to those listed; duties may change according to the changing needs of the County.
