Summary

Security Specialist overseeing implementation of programs and policies related to Personnel Security (PERSEC), Information Security (INFOSEC), Physical Security and Communications Security (COMSEC), Facilities and Emergency Preparedness.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in maintenance of personnel security records.
  • Conduct appropriate Special Compartmented Information (SCI) briefings/debriefings as assigned.
  • Make independent technical judgments concerning interpretation and implementation of existing security procedures, forming basis for major security program policy and operational decisions.
  • Serve as Communications Security (COMSEC)/Top Secret Special Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) Manager.
  • Safeguard and account for TOP SECRET COMSEC material, keying material, equipment.
  • Provide advice and guidance on complex physical security matters concerning special compartmented information facility (SCIF).
  • Additional selections may be made for other divisions or units.
Requirements
  • U.S. citizen.
  • For males born after 12/31/1959, must be registered with Selective Service.
  • Primary U.S. residency for at least 3 of last 5 years.
  • English pre‑employment processes.
  • Security clearance:
    Top Secret/SCI.
  • Background investigation required.
  • Drug testing per DHS Drug‑Free Workplace Plan.
Qualifications

GS‑12 level
: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, including interpreting legislation, developing internal security programs, supporting SCI operations, overseeing facilities, coordinating research and analysis of security programs.

GS‑13 level
: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, including proficient SCI briefings and debriefings, managing administrative actions, facilitating security planning and resource allocation, serving as program coordinator for SCI facilities.
