ResponsibilitiesPOSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for collecting, analyzing, and computing data on all reportable cancer diagnosis for the registry operations and data standards for the American College of Surgery (ACOS) regarding the nature of cancer patients’ illnesses and the diagnostic procedures and treatments used to deal with them. This Registrar maintains the data of patients who have been diagnosed with malignant tumors and submits data to the National Center Data Base and Texas State Registry.
He/She must work in a professional manner with physicians and other hospital departments.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Strong computer, communication, and writing skills.
- Detail oriented and organized; good decision maker; analytical thinker.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, and ICD
10 coding required. - Previous experience or education in Healthcare field, preferred.
- Medical record audit skills preferred.
- Good interpersonal relationship skills.
- Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.
Graduate of Cancer Registry Management or Health Information Management program. Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) or eligible. RHIA or RHIT with two years experience in Cancer Registry may be substituted for the CTR qualification.
