Performs spiritual functions associated with beliefs and practices of religious faith or denominations as authorized, providing spiritual and moral assistance and guidance to patients, families, and staff.

• Maintain utmost confidentiality at all times.
• Adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate ethical business practices and personal actions aligned with corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.

Additional duties may include:

• Minister to patients and/or families at Driscoll Children's Hospital.
• Respond to deaths at the hospital.
• Participate in interdisciplinary teams for holistic patient care.
• Facilitate the use of spiritual resources for patients and families during hospitalization.
• Serve as a liaison between religious groups and local clergy support.
• Provide spiritual and emotional support to staff.
• Perform religious rites and sacraments, such as funerals and weddings.
• Act as a resource for local clergy.
• Work schedule typically , Monday to Friday, including on-call duties for 24/7 pastoral care coverage, including weekends.
• Provide emergency coverage during on-call periods.
• Perform clerical duties as needed.
• Maintain ecclesiastical endorsement by a faith group.
• Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Spanish speaking ability preferred.
• Safeguard patient confidences.
• Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and caring, inspiring others to align with the hospital’s mission and values.

• B.A. degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• Theological education meeting Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) requirements, preferably a Master of Divinity, or in process.
• Completion of 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or in process.
• Certification from the Association of Professional Chaplains or similar within two years of hire or in process.
