Responsibilities
Provides responsible supervision to assigned probationers on indirect status to ensure compliance with Court ordered conditions thereby providing a service to the Courts of Hidalgo County and protecting the community. Organizational Relationship:
Reports to Immediate Supervisor.
Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Assists Community Supervision Officers in preparing and delivering Court Documents, computer entries, phone contacts, letters and communication with other agencies.
Conducts Case Reviews in accordance with set procedures.
Receives, assesses, reviews and records information from probationers' monthly written report and gives summary of their progress.
Notifies Supervisor and/or Community Supervision Officer(s) of probationers who have been charged with new offenses; reviews and processes requests and confers with other Counties and States.
Assists in preparation or reports, such as status/violation reports for court proceedings.
Attempt to locate probationers by phone or mail.
Process cases for re-transfer to another county or state.
May administer urinalysis.
Regular and timely attendance is a must, be willing to work a flexible schedule as needed.
Must possess reliable transportation and liability insurance for work related travel.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Ensure compliance with all CJAD standards as well as all applicable State and Federal Laws.
QualificationsMust have never been convicted of or placed on court-ordered community supervision/probation for any criminal offense classified as a Class B misdemeanor or higher.
High School Diploma, or equivalent.
Associates degree or equivalent (60 hours of college course work in criminal justice field or similar) preferred.
2 years related field experience preferred.
Experience in human relations and working with disadvantaged or under privilege individuals, preferred.
Must possess an understanding of the Criminal Justice System.
Must possess an understanding of methods and resources used in providing supervision to a caseload of persons on probation.
Must possess quality analytical, verbal, and written skills in order to effectively communicate with clients and the Courts.
Must possess good verbal communication skills - English and Spanish.
Must possess good written communication skills
