The UTRGV School of Medicine seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor for teaching Physiology. Responsibilities include teaching pre-clerkship physiology and related topics; didactic lectures, lab sessions, PBL, resources sessions, office hours for student mentoring; administration; and other duties as required. The selected candidate should be able to integrate instruction across disciplines within a fully integrated curriculum, and work collegially within an interdisciplinary team of clinical/basic science educators.
The position requires commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring first- and second-year medical students. The role includes implementing a vertically and horizontally integrated curriculum using active learning, team-based learning, problem-based learning, flipped classroom and self-directed study. This is a full-time instructional mandate.
- A Terminal Degree of Ph.D. or M.D. or equivalent with post-doctoral experience in the area of expertise.
Required Qualifications
- Experience teaching in an LCME-accredited medical school is preferred.
