Supervisor of Special Education Position Summary

This is a supervisory level position responsible for oversight of Special Education Programs by geographic area and/or exceptionality.

Benefits
  • The initial salary for this position is firmly set at $87,295
  • 260 Day Work Year
  • 15 PAID holidays
  • 25 Vacation Days, 5 Personal Days, 13 Sick Days, 2 Mental Health Days per fiscal year.
  • Full medical dental and vision benefits are effective the first day of employment with a monthly premium share of only $75.
Required Qualifications
  • Valid Pennsylvania Supervisor of Special Education certificate or K-12 Principal Certificate
  • Five years' experience with special education students
  • Thorough understanding of all state and federal requirements for special education
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with School Wide Positive Behavior Support
  • Speech and Language background with PA certification
  • Experience with low incidence population
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and evaluate assigned teaching and paraprofessional staff.
  • Participate in the interviewing of prospective employees and provide recommendations for employment.
  • Oversee the procedural compliance of all pupil placements (from point of referral to IEP development / implementation) and to transition to adult life.
  • Oversee class lists for child count accuracy.
  • Present at workshops and meetings and serve on committees, upon request.
  • Participate in meetings to develop IU/district goals and budget contracts.
  • Oversee the requisitioning of materials for new and existing programs.
  • Evaluate annually the facilities utilized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director and Assistant Director of Special Education.
