Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Critical Care Float Pool

Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Critical Care Float Pool at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital located in Edina, MN.

About

the Critical Care Float Pool at Southdale Hospital
  • As a RN on our team, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in multiple units!
  • You will float to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the Emergency Department (ED).
  • In a less frequent capacity, you may float to Neuro, Cardiac Telemetry, Surgical, and IMC units.
  • There may be additional opportunity to cross train more areas if needs dictate, such as Post‑Partum, EMPath, Endoscopy, etc.
  • We are looking for an engaging, standout colleague who is able to multitask optimally and connect with our wonderful, strong team of dedicated nurses!
Schedule

This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the day shift (7 AM– 7:30 PM). This position will also work a rotation for every 3rd weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). The RN role offers an additional $2.00/hour for being in the Float Pool.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient needs and identify expected nursing outcomes.
  • Develop an individualized nursing plan of care.
  • Implement interventions as needed during treatment based on the plan of care.
  • Evaluate care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
  • Use communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes.
  • Coordinate care with members of the health care team and delegate responsibilities to others as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of evidence‑based practice (EBP) by participating in a multitude of available opportunities.
  • Perform responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
Required Qualifications
  • Critical Care Flex Team:
    • One year acute care RN experience
    • Six months current IMC RN experience
    • ACLS required at time of hire
    • NIHSS certification completed by end of orientation
    • TNCC and PALS required no more than one year post‑hire
    • ENPC:
      If the RN has never had it, need to complete no more than one year post‑hire. (Once lifetime, does not need to be current)
Preferred Qualifications
  • TNCC certification at time of hire
  • ENPC certification at time of hire
