Position: 2026 Early Morning Supervisor - Edina Aquatic Center

Overview

The Early Morning Facility Supervisor is the point of contact in the early morning hours of the facility and is responsible for ensuring the facility is open on time & ready for business, ready for swim clubs to safely begin practice, and able to receive facility deliveries. They will open and inspect the facility for hazards, vandalism, operational, and staffing concerns.

They are responsible for checking all bodies of water to ensure they are clear. The Ellis Facility Opening list must be completed as well as a facility specific checklist.

Scope of Impact:

The Early Morning Facility Supervisor serves in an introductory leadership position that collaborates with other facility staff, vendors, and the public in a positive manner. The role aims to build leadership skills, cross-train, and work in all areas. Evaluation occurs at mid-season by facility management. This position reports to the Assistant General Manager and may take direction from the General Manager, Facility Coordinator, Certified Pool Operator(s), Birthday Party Coordinator, and Seasonal Managers.

FACILITY/GENERAL

Responsible for the on-site direction of all aspects of the Aquatic Center, with a primary focus on operations & staffing required for opening the facility.

  • Unlocking necessary doors to pool side storage and locker room roll-up doors on the deck side. Ensure all other doors/gates are locked when not in use.
  • Act as receiver & vendor point of contact for all deliveries and distribution of delivered goods, including stocking those goods to proper locations across the facility, including refrigerated, frozen and dry goods using established food safety protocols.

Charged with the responsible use of reporting tools and technology used to create, review, and take action on opening/closing reports and checklists addressing facility, equipment, supply/inventory, communication, or staffing needs. All facility managers & the CPO receive the report as a shared responsibility.

  • Communicate daily with full-time lead staff (General Manager, Assistant Manager, Facility Coordinator, Certified Pool Operator(s), Birthday Party Coordinator) and full-time seasonal lead staff (Seasonal Managers, Early Morning Supervisors, Lifeguard Instructors, Leads).
  • Review, print & publish reports and schedules to ensure smooth operation of daily duties.
  • Review inventories and order items or notify the seasonal manager of needed goods.

As an active operation, other duties as assigned.

Ensure staffing & equipment are in place to support the safe operation of the facility and rentals for opening.

  • Review open shifts and provide staff & facility communication in the event of closures or staff absences.
DECK MANAGEMENT

Complete safety inspections essential to deck management and facility operations.

  • Complete the Ellis Facility Opening list and facility-specific checklist.
  • Provide proactive deck management to staff, swim clubs, and swim lesson participants, limiting areas of access.
GUEST SERVICES

Share knowledge with staff on upholding high customer service standards while adhering to facility policies.

Ensure security, accountability, and accurate counts of all cash or staff supporting the operation.

  • Count & sort bills in daily money bags and prepare detailed bank deposit forms/reports for bank drop, including communicating to staff & facility managers any reconciling discrepancies.
  • Accurately prep cash registers with bill balancing, regular cash counts, and assist staff with daily cash transactions & operation.
  • Assist Assistant General Manager with training, monitoring, & coaching of staff on proper cash handling procedures, safety & security protocols, customer service standards, and completion of concessions and/or facility inventories or opening duties to maintain accuracy and prevent errors.

Assist Facility Coordinator & Birthday Party Coordinator with organization, communication, and preparation efforts required to actively manage groups & birthday parties, including but not limited to:

  • Communicating & confirming group details in collaboration with group contact, host, and facility managers.
  • Organizing group and birthday party locations and set-ups, leading & outlining best practices for supporting staff in these set-ups & preparation efforts.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 1+ years, or equivalent, experience in aquatics, recreation, or high-contact customer service
  • 1+ years, or equivalent, experience in a leadership position
  • Current Ellis & Associates’ First Aid, CPR, & AED certification, or willingness to achieve certification
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and use independent judgement to produce quality, accurate work; perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, respectful, and productive working relationships
  • Ability to apply cross-cultural communication skills while working with a diverse population
