Overview
Hellmuth & Johnson is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented HR Generalist to support day-to-day human resources and payroll functions. This junior-level role focuses on payroll administration, employee support, and maintaining accurate HR records. The ideal candidate is organized, approachable, and comfortable working behind the scenes to keep HR processes running smoothly. This position does not involve legal work.

Key Responsibilities- Payroll & Timekeeping Support (Primary Focus)
- Assist with payroll processing and audits to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Track employee time, PTO, and leave balances
- Respond to employee payroll and timekeeping questions
- Maintain payroll-related records and documentation
- Employee Support
- Serve as a first point of contact for routine HR and payroll questions
- Provide courteous, timely support to attorneys and staff
- Assist with employee communications and internal HR forms
- Assist with benefits open enrollment
- Assist with performance reviews
- Post job postings, schedule interviews, and conduct interviews along with Firm Administrator
- Coordinate new hire onboarding, including paperwork, system access, and orientation support
- Assist with employee offboarding tasks and documentation
- Maintain accurate employee personnel files (digital and physical)
- Assist with I-9 completion
- Maintain HR records in compliance with firm policies and applicable regulations
- Support updates to HR forms, procedures, and internal tracking tools
- Assist with benefits administration support
- Provide general administrative support related to HR initiatives and projects
- 2–4 years of HR, administrative, or payroll support experience preferred
- Strong customer service mindset and professional communication skills
- High level of discretion when handling confidential information
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; HRIS experience is a plus
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
$50,000 to $85,000 per year, based on experience.
