Phlebotomy Technician - Edina, MN

Hours
:
Mon & Friday 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM / Tue‑Thu 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM – hours may vary depending on business needs – opening 07:30 AM to closing 6:00 PM

Pay range: $23.00 – $28.00 per hour

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and certifications obtained. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus.

Responsibilities
  • Collect blood and/or perform POC as assigned
  • Cleans and re‑stocks POC supplies and prepares phlebotomy carts/trays
  • Assists coworkers with draws and POC testing
  • Draws venous or capillary blood from newborn through geriatric aged patients using proper aseptic collection techniques
  • Draws and delivers (where applicable) all blood work (stat, timed, routine) within established departmental policy time frames
  • Draws venous and capillary blood into proper tubes and culture vials according to the purpose for which the blood is to be tested
  • Performs and processes all POC tests on patients ranging from newborn to geriatrics
  • Completes clerical functions associated with POC testing documents
  • Reports incidents/issues regarding patients or employees timely to group leader or supervisor
  • Reports supply needs and equipment defects in a timely fashion
  • Logs refrigerator temperatures daily and reports if falls out of range to group leader or supervisor
  • Travels and performs phlebotomy duties and POC testing, as needed, at health fair and PSA testing sites and delivers specimens to laboratory
  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.) and communicates with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.)
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the clinics organizational competencies
Physical Requirements
  • Lift light to moderately heavy objects (1–15 lbs frequently, 16–25 lbs occasionally, 26–40 lbs seldom, >41 lbs without assistance)
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time; requires long hours of eye and hand coordination
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with dominant hand frequently throughout the day
  • Position requires travel
  • Extensive use of phone and PC
  • Fine dexterity with hands/steadiness
  • Talking, walking, balancing, bending/kneeling, pushing/pulling, reaching/twisting
Knowledge, Education and Skills Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Required Certification/Licensing
