Sr. Phlebotomy Technician

Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM (hours vary depending on site), with rotational weekends. Daily shift may vary based on site requirements. The position requires flexibility and occasional weekend work.
The Sr. Phlebotomy Technician assists the supervisor in the day‑to‑day operations of the department. This position is responsible for accurately performing and processing point‑of‑care testing (POC), venous and capillary blood collection from adults, infants, and children, and all related functions.
Pay Range$25.00 – $30.00 per hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and certifications. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus.

- Prepares staff schedule to provide adequate coverage and updates changes daily
- Ensures equitable distribution of workload
- Troubleshoots and resolves issues with technicians, clinic staff, etc. as needed with the supervisor
- Monitors to ensure work is being performed efficiently
- Establishes onboarding program for new employees with the supervisor
- Performs phlebotomy and POC testing as needed
- Maintains drawing and POC testing carts/trays with necessary supplies
- Maintains all necessary supplies and places orders in a timely fashion; displays need for cost‑effectiveness in the use of supplies and materials
- Sorts timed specimen requisition and distributes them according to unit assignments as necessary
- Obtains specimens, requisitions, draws blood or performs POC tests as needed
- Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (age, culture, language, hearing/visually impaired, etc.)
- Communicates with patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level
- Adheres to the standards identified in the clinic’s organizational competencies
- Contacts:
Regular contact with clinic personnel, patients, and visitors
- Lift light to moderately heavy objects: 1–15 lbs frequently; 16–25 lbs occasionally; 26–40 lbs seldom; beyond 41 lbs requires assistance
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time; requires long hours of eye and hand coordination
- Must perform repetitive tasks with dominant hand frequently
- Position requires travel
- Extensive use of phone and PC
- Fine dexterity with hands/steadiness
- Talking, walking, balancing, bending/kneeling, pushing/pulling, reaching/twisting
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of progressive, accomplished experience in POC and phlebotomy preferred
- Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington
