Schedules, conducts, calculates and reports cardio-pulmonary tests per PFT lab policy. Ensures the quality, repeatability, and timelines of cardio-pulmonary tests as well as patient safety. Submits patient charges for the services provided. Provides support and assistance to Pulmonary Rehab as PFT test schedule allows.

Job DescriptionConducts, calculates and reports variety cardio-pulmonary tests to assess patients’ pulmonary function. Reports test results to ensure timely interpretation and posting of final test report.
Uses background knowledge to evaluate the patient and trains the patient to perform the cardio-pulmonary tests correctly to obtain, ensuring accurate test results.

Is accountable for his/her behavior. Actions contribute to improved customer satisfaction outcome.
Interacts with internal and external customers using AIDET methodology
Upon receipt of physicians' orders, uses clinical skills to evaluate the physician's order and schedules patient test within 24 hours to ensure timeliness.
Routinely calibrates cardio-pulmonary testing equipment to ensure accurate measurement of patient tests.
Plans, develops, implements and reports performance improvement activities for cardio-pulmonary procedures, equipment and supplies to improve PFT lab quality, accuracy and/or timeliness.
Education, Credentials, Licenses- Registered Respiratory Therapist as described by the NBRC.
- Holds current mandatory certification to practice Respiratory Therapy in the state where work is being performed.
- Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) as described by the NBRC upon employment or obtains CPFT, RPFT, or RCPT within six months of employment or promotion as a condition of continuing employment in the position.
- Previous pulmonary function experience.
- Conducts himself/herself in a professional manner.
- Uses proper communications channels, maintains confidentiality of customer information and PHI.
- Attends staff meetings as required, participates in training programs, ensures completion of annual competencies.
- Stays up to date with Health System information by reviewing communications.
Works within and as a member of the Pulmonary Health Center Team but can function independently when necessary. Performs the duties of a Registered Respiratory Therapist as patient demands require. Performs other duties as assigned.
