DescriptionGeneral Job Summary: Responsible for operating radiological and fluoroscopic equipment.
Essential Job Functions- Prepares patients for radiologic procedures.
- Protects patient, self, and other staff from radiation hazards.
- Reads patients’ charts and relays physician orders to other staff members.
- Maintains all radiographic files completely and accurately.
- Complies with safety standards, OSHA, and HIPAA.
- Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining equipment repairs.
- Maintains radiographic supplies, film, and orders as necessary.
- Operates and maintains all imaging department equipment.
- Performs all imaging exams according to provider protocols and other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the practice.
Education/Experience: Certified as a medical radiologic technologist as required by the state.
Associates degree in Radiological Technology from an accredited Radiology Technology program.
CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred.
Other Requirements: Schedules will change as department needs change, including overtime and weekends. Travel as needed.
Knowledge- Knowledge of radiology procedures and protocols.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform radiology testing including body mechanics and patient movement. Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
- Knowledge of body mechanics. Knowledge of electronic health records and practice management systems.
- Skill in positioning patients properly.
- Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
- Skill in following infection control and radiological safety procedures.
- Ability to lift and position patients for the type of x-ray procedure required.
- Ability to notice detail in radiological images with differences in shapes and sizes.
- Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.
- Ability to evaluate images and make technical changes as needed.
