Our client has engaged us to assist them in hiring a contract Switch Component Design & Release Engineer

Hourly pay range $42-$46
Location: Dearborn, MI
Duration: Long-Term Contract (W2)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid - In-office 4 days per week (Monday-Thursday)

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead design, development, and release of switch components following global product development milestones.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, program teams, studio, ergonomics, and purchasing teams.
  • Develop and maintain core engineering documents, design rules, DFMEA, DVP&R, 8D reports, and other program-specific foundation documents.
  • Create component specifications, quality documents, and drawings in partnership with Full-Service Suppliers (FSS).
  • Conduct technical design reviews and support development of functional, engineering, and diagnostic specifications.
  • Work closely with suppliers and quality teams to address reliability and quality concerns.
  • Ensure cost targets are met and deliver cost-efficient products.
  • Support commodity PATs and vehicle/program launches as needed.
  • Travel to assembly plants or supplier facilities during program launch phases.
  • Continuously improve D&R processes based on lessons learned.
Job Requirements
  • 3+ years in design and release engineering for electromechanical components.
  • Previous experience in product development of switches or other electrical/electronic components for automotive applications.
  • Strong ability to work independently; self-starter.
  • Experience managing projects from inception to launch.
  • Analytical skills for problem-solving in product development.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills for guiding diverse teams.
  • Program/project and supplier management experience, including negotiation.
  • Education:

    BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering (MS preferred).
