Head of Finance

Citadel Source are pleased to be partnering with a privately owned organisation in the recruitment of a Head of Finance on a permanent basis, based in Newport. The business is a well-established, multi-entity operation with a strong trading history and an experienced senior leadership team. Operating in a fast-paced commercial environment, the organisation continues to invest in its people, systems and processes to support ongoing growth and long-term stability.

The role

This role offers a rare opportunity to join a business at a pivotal stage of its development, working closely with senior management to provide clear financial leadership, robust control and meaningful commercial insight. The position is suited to an individual seeking a long-term role where they can influence strategy, develop the finance function and progress their career as the business evolves.

The role of the Head of Finance is to take ownership of financial management and control across the organisation, leading the finance team and delivering high-quality reporting, forecasting and analysis to support effective decision-making.

As a Head of Finance, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Overall responsibility for financial management, reporting and control
• Preparation of monthly management accounts and performance reporting for senior stakeholders
• Budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities
• Cashflow management and short- to medium-term forecasting
• Leadership and development of the finance team
• Review, development and maintenance of financial controls and processes
• Financial analysis to support operational and strategic decisions
• Balance sheet oversight, including reconciliations and reviews
• Preparation and submission of statutory and regulatory returns
• Liaison with external stakeholders, including auditors, banks and advisors
• Support on funding, finance and commercial initiatives
• Ad-hoc project work and continuous improvement activity

About you

You will be a confident, hands-on finance professional who enjoys working in close partnership with senior stakeholders in an owner-managed or SME-style environment.

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
• Strong technical accounting and reporting capability
• Commercially aware with a strategic mindset
• Experience leading or managing a finance function
• Strong Excel and general IT skills
• Comfortable operating in a changeable, evolving environment
• Proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused
