Test Development Engineer

Candour Talent are recruiting a Test Development Engineer for their client based in Newport.

Excellent opportunity for a Test Development Engineer to join our client’s growing team in Newport. The successful candidate will have electronics hardware expertise and PCB / HLA test engineering experience, and will play a crucial role in the NPI process.

The Role:

* Develop and maintain automated and manual test procedures for electronic equipment and assemblies.

* Design and commission test fixtures, hardware, and software for in-circuit, functional, and system-level testing.

* Collaborate with design, production, and quality teams to ensure testability and manufacturability of products.

* Analyse test data, identify failure trends, and drive corrective actions to improve product quality.

* Support the introduction of new products by creating and validating test solutions in line with customer requirements.

* Provide technical support and training to production test technicians and engineers.

* Maintain documentation for test procedures, equipment, and results.

The Ideal Candidate :

* Degree in Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.

* Experience in developing test solutions for electronic assemblies, ideally in a contract manufacturing environment.

* Proficiency in test software development (e.g., LabVIEW, Test Stand, Python, C/C++).

* Strong understanding of electronic circuits, PCB design, and fault-finding techniques.

* Hands-on experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators.

* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Experience and Expertise:

* Experience with automated test equipment (ATE) and fixture design.

* Familiarity with IPC standards and quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, etc.).

* Knowledge of EMC, safety, and regulatory compliance testing.

* Previous experience working with sub-contract manufacturers or in a high-mix, low-volume environment.
