Surgical Technician/Sterile Processor at Atlantic Eye
OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented Surgical Technician / Sterile Processing Technician to join our single‑room ambulatory surgery center. This dual role supports seamless surgical operations and upholds the highest standards of patient safety and infection control. The ideal candidate will assist in the operating room, manage instrument sterilization, oversee inventory, and collaborate closely with the ASC Operations Specialist. Certification as both a Surgical Technician and Sterile Processor is required.
ResponsibilitiesSurgical Technician Duties
- Prepare the operating room for procedures, ensuring all instruments and supplies are available and properly set up per surgeon’s preference.
- Assist the surgeon during procedures by anticipating needs and maintaining a sterile field.
- Handle instruments and surgical equipment safely and efficiently throughout procedures.
- Verify counts of needles, and instruments before and after surgeries.
- Remove waste and contaminated instruments and needles after each surgery.
- Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays according to established protocols.
- Monitor and document sterilization cycles and quality control measures.
- Ensure all instruments and equipment are maintained in optimal working condition and report any issues promptly to the Director of Nursing.
- Assist in inventory management, storing and stocking supplies as directed, rotating stock and refrigerating inventory immediately if required.
- Perform other duties within scope of practice, as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, single‑room surgical environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Certified by an accredited agency as a Surgical Technician.
- Certified by an accredited agency as a Sterile Processor.
- High School diploma or GED.
Monday‑Friday, Flexibility is key.
