Operations Manager
- Precision Machining
A dynamic, rapidly growing company has an opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager with a background in Precision Machining. This key team member will be responsible for day-to-day plant operations, scheduling, quality assurance, inventory, and team leadership. Our company has been a leader of diamond machining: milling, grinding, and dicing.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Plan and lead the precision CNC machining operations maximizing the quality and productivity of the operation.
· Own nonconformance handling: root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and documentation.
· Build staffing plans, allocate work, approve timecards, and handle basic HR tasks.
· Manage raw material procurement (ceramics and other specialty materials, vendor relationships, and inventory.
· Track tooling, consumables, and preventive maintenance schedules for CNC mills/lathes and inspection equipment.
· Communicate job status, resolve issues, and coordinate change orders with customers.
· Perform job costing and margin analysis; reconcile against estimates/quotes; flag variances and opportunities for improvement.
· Ensure that adequate planning methodology is maintained to ensure timely completion of projects
· Responsible for overseeing all functions of the organization including Shop, Vehicles, Inventory, Purchasing, Scheduling, and Installations
· Promote safety culture: hazard assessments, PPE compliance, incident reporting, and corrective actions.
· Ensures that safety standards and procedures are followed.
Essential Requirements:
· 5 years in production management or supervisor role in a CNC machining or precision fabrication environment.
· Bachelor’s degree in a Technical or Engineering curriculum.
· Strong understanding of CNC workflows: setup, programming basics, tool selection, feeds/speeds, and quality inspection.
· Experience with scheduling, work orders, and inventory control.
· Basic CAD/CAM literacy (e.g., reading prints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, able to collaborate with programmers).
· Proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets; comfort with ERP/MRP or job tracking systems.
· Familiarity with invoice preparation and job costing (materials + labor + overhead).
· Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
