The Substitute School Nurse provides health services and emergency care to students and staff in the absence of the regular school nurse. This position plays a key role in supporting student wellness and ensuring that all health-related needs are addressed promptly and effectively throughout the school day. Please note that this is an on-call position.

Southeastern is a diverse, multicultural vocational technical high school, which serves over 1700 students. The students balance the rigors of a complete academic course of studies with technical skill training in over 20 career majors. Our students are prepared for college, career, and/or additional technical training.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Administer first aid and emergency care to students and staff according to established procedures.
* Manage and dispense student medications as prescribed, following proper documentation and protocols.
* Monitor and manage students with chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies), following individual healthcare plans.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records and daily logs of student visits and treatments.
* Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, staff, and administrators regarding student health issues as needed.
* Adhere to school policies and public health guidelines, including communicable disease prevention and control.
* Collaborate with school staff to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all students.
* Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all health-related matters.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Required:
* Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in MA
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
* Current CPR and First Aid certification.
* Experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred.
* Preferred:
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
* Previous experience in a school or community health setting.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
* Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced school environment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Sensitivity to the health and developmental needs of children and adolescents.
