Job Summary
The Wheaton College (MA) Department of Psychology and Neuroscience invites applications for a two‑year Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning July 1, 2026. The role focuses on excellence in undergraduate teaching and pedagogical innovation. Candidates will teach a mix of general psychology courses and upper‑division courses in the department’s sociocultural areas (e.g., Social Psychology, Multicultural Psychology, Global Psychology, Psychology of Women, or Psychology of Race and Discrimination).
TeachingResponsibilities
The position requires teaching three courses per semester, including core introductory psychology and research methods courses and at least one upper‑division course in the applicant’s area of specialization. The Visiting Assistant Professor will work with a faculty team committed to a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
Minimum Qualifications- PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a closely related field (or equivalent).
- Teaching experience with demonstrated excellence in undergraduate instruction.
- Teaching statement detailing philosophy, experience, and approach to pedagogy.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., teaching evaluations).
- Three references, with at least one addressing teaching effectiveness.

Compensation and BenefitsSalary range: $45,000 – $55,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s credentials.
