Customer Service Rep, Retail Associate/ Customer Service
Overview
This is a full time position. Primary responsibility is to take excellent care of customers by satisfying each customer s needs and exceeding expectations. This role requires product knowledge, food preparation skills, sales ability, customer relations skills, and cooperation with fellow associates to create An Incredible Place To Work and Shop. Responsibilities include preparing, processing, packaging, and stocking products according to Fresh Foods Standards, providing customer service, cleaning work areas, unloading stock, and reloading salvage products according to Fresh Foods Standards.
Customers are Harris Teeter s most valuable asset. Associates represent Harris Teeter to customers and the public. The way associates perform their jobs reflects on the company. One of the top business priorities is to assist any customer or potential customer. Always be courteous, friendly, helpful, and prompt in attention to customers. Training is provided for associates with extensive customer contact.
If a customer has a comment or complaint you cannot resolve, direct them to the department manager or manager-on-duty for appropriate action.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- CUSTOMER SERVICE:
Initiate interaction with customers on the sales floor and sales counter. Ask questions regarding shopping needs and provide information to meet taste and meal requirements. Follow through on customer requests. - Demonstrate the highest level of customer service at all times. Never be rude to a customer.
- Follow through on customer requests; if you cannot say yes, involve department management or the manager-on-duty. Do not turn away business.
- Make eye contact with and smile at every customer. Speak in a genuine, clear, and enthusiastic manner and ask if they found everything they were looking for.
- Reflect a professional image: dress, grooming, and personal cleanliness according to company policy.
- Be reliable and punctual. If absent or late, notify your supervisor or manager-on-duty. In rare cases of delay, provide two hours advance notice when possible.
- Prepare and decorate bread, rolls, muffins, pies, cakes, cookies, and other pastries per recipes. Check production schedules, bake, and wrap or weight, price, date, and package products according to standards.
- Decorate cakes and create party trays according to standards and customer specifications.
- Obtain or prepare food items requested by customers e, fry, broil, or roast poultry, pork, beef, and other meats per standards.
- Operate equipment to prepare and portion products per standards and customer specifications.
- Sell only fresh products. Follow standards for product preparation, merchandising, rotation, dating, and markdowns. Comply with Food Safety policy (RO-37).
- Ensure proper refrigeration of Fresh Foods products and check temperatures of products, cases, and coolers per standards.
- Keep shelves stocked and well merchandised. Manage backstock, process close-dated and damaged product per standards.
- Monitor merchandising displays and offer daily samples as appropriate. Inform management of missing items, incorrect prices, or signage issues.
- Unload products from trucks, place in coolers, and load salvage as required. Remove products from storage as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness following Health Department and Department of Agriculture standards. Sanitize prep rooms and coolers; keep counters, surfaces, floors, and displays clean and neat.
- Perform fixed cleaning activities when business is light (sweeping, blocking, straightening, trash removal, etc.).
- Follow safety regulations and report accidents or hazards. Maintain Hazard Communication compliance for chemical handling.
- Assist fellow associates with daily tasks ( unloading, deliveries, inventory, restocking, and displaying merchandise). Foster trust, respect, and integrity in the workplace.
