About the RoleUniversity of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton is seeking an experienced Cath Lab RN to support diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures within a two-room catheterization lab. The RN will assist with patient preparation, procedural support, moderate sedation, and post-procedure recovery for patients presenting with acute and chronic cardiac conditions.
This role requires strong clinical assessment skills, the ability to circulate and scrub during procedures, and competency in caring for patients undergoing PCI, pacemaker procedures, TEE, cardioversions, and related interventions. Candidates must be able to respond quickly in a high-acuity environment and collaborate closely with cardiologists, technologists, and interdisciplinary teams.
This assignment supports an immediate need for a skilled Cath Lab RN with at least three years of experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister patient medications
Assist in diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures
Circulate and scrub during cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures
Perform pre- and post-procedure patient assessments
Monitor and document vital signs and sedation levels
Identify signs of infection or procedural complications
Prepare patients for procedures and ensure accurate consent documentation
Provide discharge teaching on procedures, medications, wound care, activity, and lifestyle changes
Manage administrative aspects of Cath/EP patient care
Support vascular closure device care, sheath management, and ACT monitoring
Assist with TEE procedures, including bubble studies
Perform blood draws, IV therapy, infusion of blood products, and pain reassessment
Assist with cardioversion, pacemakers, ICDs, and loop recorders
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards
Float to pre-op/PACU within specialty as needed
Perform additional duties as assigned
Shift: Day Shift Hours: 4×10s — 07:00–17:30 Late Shift: One scheduled late shift per week (10:00–20:30) On-Call:
Must be within 30-minute arrival time
Mon–Fri: 17:30–07:00
Weekends/Holidays: 24-hour call (07:00–07:00)
Approx. 10–13 call shifts per month Weekends/Holidays: Required as scheduled
Active MD RN license
BLS, ACLS, CPI (CPI completed on-site during orientation)
NIHSS preferred
Minimum 3 years Cath Lab experience required
First-time travelers accepted with 3 years proven Cath Lab background
Participation in Amergis Competency program (if applicable)
Current CPR (if applicable)
TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (as required)
Current health certificate (per state/contract regulations)
Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
Strong communication skills;
English proficiency requiredComputer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
