Teacher Assistant

Halifax County Schools is seeking a dependable and student-focused Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction and student learning. The ideal candidate will assist the lead teacher with instructional activities, classroom management, and daily operations to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.

• Support the teacher in delivering lessons and small-group instruction
• Assist with classroom management and student supervision
• Provide one-on-one or small-group academic support
• Help prepare instructional materials and classroom resources
• Monitor students during lunch, recess, and transitions
• Maintain accurate records as directed
• Support students’ social and emotional development
• Communicate professionally with staff and parents

• Associate degree or 48 college credit hours preferred per NC guidelines
• Completion of required state or district training (if applicable)
• Ability to work effectively with children and staff
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to pass background check and meet district employment requirements

• Previous experience working in a school setting
• Experience supporting diverse learners or students with special needs
