Water Meter Reader

We are hiring Water Meter Readers in your postcode now! Full‑time – Working close to home, no experience is required.

• Collect data from water meters for both commercial and residential properties.
• Update meter reads accurately throughout the day on a handheld device and enter details at each location.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Retrieve data from domestic, commercial and industrial sites; most meters are external (about 75 %).
• Handle potentially heavier manholes and perform heavy lifting where required.
• Maintain a friendly, professional approach and adhere to health and safety guidelines at all times.

• £13.01 – 13.85 per hour basic pay.
• Weekly hours 40 – 45 with flexible start and finish times between 8 am and 8 pm.
• Average annual earnings £27,000 – 31,000.
• Bonus scheme with earnings up to £1,000 monthly.
• Mostly Monday‑Friday hours, occasionally Saturday.
• Weekly payment.
• Overtime rates £16 – 25 at manager's discretion.
• Business expenses reimbursed.

• Up to 28 days holiday per year based on accrual.
• Full uniform and PPE provided.
• Company car.
• Full training will be provided.

• Full UK driving licence – minimum 1 year, maximum 6 points, no driving offences.
• Physically fit – expect to walk 5 – 6 miles per day, lift manholes, climb stairs, crouch and bend in tight spaces.
• Happy to work in all weather conditions.
• Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions).
• Credit report check (no county court judgements, IVA, debt relief orders recorded for the last 6 years).
• Previous customer‑service experience (preferred but not essential).

Training is 1 week and will be both classroom‑based and field‑based with an experienced meter reader, so you get to see the job through a professional's eyes.
