About the roleAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Democratic Services Officer to support our democratic process and effective decision making.
Key responsibilities- Ensuring democratic processes run professionally and effectively
- Supporting the transparency of decision making
- Organising and minuting committee meetings
- Providing advice and guidance to chairs of committees
- Ensuring all democratic activity is delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and the Council’s Constitution
- Work closely with Councillors to support their induction and development
The ideal candidate will have experience and a good understanding of local government.
You will also be exceptionally well organised with a keen eye for detail. Having strong communication skills is key, and you will be a self-starter and motivated to do a great job.
You will remain calm under pressure and deal effectively with problems and last-minute changes as they arise. Working to tight timetables, you will need to be adaptable to changing priorities and have a flexible and positive approach.
- 25 to 28 days annual leave (dependant on local government continuous service)
- Flexible working arrangements and the ability to accrue up to 2 additional days leave per month (subject to operational requirements – pro rata for part time staff)
