Mechanical & Electrical Pre-Construction Manager​/Estimator

Overview

We're working with an M&E contractor in Hampshire who have built their reputation the right way with steady delivery, clear communication and clients who come back because life is easier when things are done properly. They're now strengthening the commercial front end of the business, and they want someone who can take the lead without needing hand holding. If you like being the person who brings structure, clarity and commercial sense to the start of a project, this is for you.

You'll run the commercial setup from the moment an enquiry lands to the moment it's handed over for delivery. Every tender, every proposal, every early decision, you'll help shape it.

• Review drawings, specs and tender documents and spot what’s missing early
• Prepare clear, accurate pricing and professional proposals
• Issue and chase RFIs
• Gather supplier and subcontractor quotes and compare options
• Hold clean pre-start handovers so delivery begins on solid ground
• Log key assumptions and risks for the team
• Use Procore properly for enquiries, tender tracking and reporting
• Keep commercial documentation tidy and reliable
• Feed accurate information into variations, costings and financial applications
• Support decisions on which opportunities to prioritise
• Protect margin through negotiation and value engineering
• Help shape tender strategy through what you’re seeing day to day
• Join client or pre-tender meetings when your input is needed

This isn’t a role where you wait for instruction, you’ll be trusted to own it and bring your experience to the table.

You've worked in the M&E industry and understand how the front end shapes the whole job. You're commercially switched on, comfortable calling out the things that make all the difference and you like making things make sense before they reach site.

• Strong M&E estimating, pre-con or QS background
• Solid understanding of costs, variations, claims and financial flow
• Confidence in reading drawings and breaking down scope
• Experience with digital systems (Procore is a bonus)
• HNC/HND or equivalent qualification
