Roads Project Officer – Renfrewshire Council
Renfrewshire Council is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Roads Project Officer to help deliver our ambitious roads infrastructure programme. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to major investment projects that improve connectivity, safety, and quality of life across Renfrewshire.
Reporting andKey Responsibilities
- Work under the Senior Roads Engineer to manage small to medium‑sized projects and work streams within larger programmes.
- Support the development, planning, and delivery of roads infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet Council priorities and deliver measurable benefits for our communities.
- Prepare tender documentation, manage contracts, monitor budgets, and oversee contractor performance to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement, support funding applications, and use specialist software such as AutoCAD, GIS, and asset management systems.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and third‑party suppliers, ensuring compliance with statutory duties and health and safety regulations.
- Relevant professional qualification or experience in service areas under Environment & Infrastructure.
- Minimum HNC qualification in civil engineering or HNC in construction and project management.
- Experience in road construction/maintenance and multi‑disciplinary project work.
- Proven track record in financial management and working with key partners to develop and deliver projects.
- Strong communication, presentation, written, influencing, negotiation, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage risk and make accountable decisions; highly developed organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Experience in capital investment programmes, CDM, and local authority work is desirable.
- A current driving licence is desirable but not essential.
