Overview
A friendly and training-focused firm of Chartered Accountants is seeking a Semi-Senior Accountant to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants hands-on experience across accounts, bookkeeping, audit, and tax while progressing their studies and being supported by a collaborative practice.
You'll work closely with senior staff, receive ongoing professional development, and benefit from a varied workload across a wide range of clients. The firm offers clear progression pathways for all members of the team.
Salary is dependent on experience/qualifications. Higher salaries can be discussed.
Duties
- Assisting with the preparation of year-end statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships.
- Supporting bookkeeping tasks using cloud software such as Xero, Quick Books, and Sage.
- Reconciling bank statements, ledgers, and control accounts.
- Supporting on audits when required.
- Preparing VAT returns and submitting to HMRC.
- Assisting with personal and business tax returns.
- Liaising with clients to request information or help resolve queries.
- Helping with the preparation of management accounts.
- Maintaining accurate and well-organised client records and files.
- Attending training sessions and working towards ACCA qualifications if needed.
- Supporting senior or junior team members with ad hoc administrative or financial tasks.
What we're looking for
A successful candidate will ideally have 2+ years experience in UK accountancy practice. Previous audit experience would be beneficial but not essential. You must live within a 1hr commute.
