Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions with suggestions
• Assist with the preparation of produce platters/trays
• Inform customers of produce specials
• Recommend items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need
• Prepare, package, label and inventory merchandise
• Review/inspect products for quality and freshness and take appropriate action
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
• Display a positive attitude
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and report needs for repair
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents
• Report safety risks or issues, and illegal activity to store management
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
• Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction)
• Current food handler permit once employed
• Comparable Retail experience (desired)
• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing) (desired)
