This role includes designing curriculum, guiding students through Business Education pathways, and integrating work-based learning such as internships, mentorships, and apprenticeships. The teacher collaborates with colleagues and community partners to maintain current curriculum, support Industry Recognized Certificates (IRCs), and develop dual credit opportunities. Responsibilities also include advising FBLA, supporting the Business Education Advisory Committee, using data to inform instruction, and fostering a safe, positive learning environment that promotes high levels of student achievement.
Job Duties:
- Knowledge and ability to design curriculum to meet established competencies regarding OSPI approved Business Education Curriculum Frameworks.
- Collaborate with the departmental team to update curriculum, Career Pathways, State Approved Equivalencies, and Industry Recognized Certificates (IRC's), along with incorporating Work-Based Learning activities in all classes.
- Actively guide students through the Business Education Pathways with a focus on introducing them to internship, mentorship, or apprenticeship opportunities in our community
- Provide active leadership and direction for the Business Education Advisory Committee and the development of the Business Education four-year plan Provide active leadership, guidance, supervision, and Advisor teamwork in the FBLA Program.
- Provide active leadership/follow-through during your rotation as "Go To"
- Advisor and "Go To" CTSO Advisor.
- Center instruction on high expectations for student achievement.
- Demonstrate effective teaching practices.
- Recognize individual student learning needs and develop strategies to address those needs.
- Provide clear and intentional focus on subject matter content and curriculum.
- Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment.
- Use multiple student data elements to modify instruction and improve student learning.
- Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community.
- Exhibit collaborative and collegial practices focused on improving instructional practice and student learning.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining Dual Credit articulation agreement(s) between WVC and the Eastmont Business Education Department.
- Extracurricular coaching/activities assignment outside of CTE will be approved on a case-by-case basis due to additional days and CTE FBLA.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality required.
- Ability to promote collaboration and communicate in stressful situations
- May be required to attend meetings and activities beyond regular work hours.
- The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
- Ability to regularly walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and occasionally sprint at a rapid speed in pursuit of a student.
- The duties require significant listening, speaking, writing, and typing.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Successful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background
- check
- Successful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance
- Completion of federal I-9 form
