Job Description

The Grinder Operator plays a crucial role in the preparation of raw meat blends by accurately following product recipes and operating grinding equipment. This position supports the production of frozen patties by ensuring all batches meet quality, safety, and weight specifications, while maintaining compliance with food safety and general safety standards. Working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, the Grinder Operator is essential in delivering consistent, high-quality meat blends and may be required to perform additional duties as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Blend and grind raw meat ingredients according to established recipes and production specifications.

  • Read, interpret, and follow product formulas to ensure accurate batching and weight compliance.

  • Operate and monitor large-scale food mixers, grinders, and related processing equipment.

  • Utilize the scanning system to accurately track ingredients, batches, and production flow.

  • Maintain strict adherence to all safety, food safety, and sanitation procedures.

  • Inspect materials and equipment to ensure proper functioning and product quality.

  • Collaborate with production and forming teams to ensure timely flow of meat blends.

  • Perform routine cleaning, equipment checks, and basic troubleshooting as needed.

  • Complete required documentation, logs, and batch records accurately.

  • Safely operate a pallet jack and forklift to move raw materials and finished blends.

  • Assist with additional production tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • 1 year of experience in batching, mixing, or grinding product in a manufacturing environment.

  • Prior food production experience preferred.

  • Ability to read and follow written recipes, directions, and production directives.

  • Strong attention to detail with a quality-focused and problem-solving mindset.

  • Experience operating large-scale food mixers, grinders, or similar industrial equipment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Must be able to consistently lift up to 75 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, climbing, and reaching.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime as needed.

Additional Qualifications
  • Pallet jack and forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain.

Work Environment

The work environment is consistently cold, around 40 degrees at all times. This role requires flexibility in working hours, with shifts available from 4am-1pm and 1pm-10pm, Monday to Friday. Night shifts include a shift differential.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East St. Louis, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.11 – $25.11/hr.
