Job Description & How to Apply Below

We’re looking for bold, entrepreneurial talent ready to help build something extraordinary — and reshape the future of building products distribution.

QXO is a publicly traded company founded by Brad Jacobs with the goal of building the market‑leading company in the building products distribution industry. On April 30, 2025, QXO completed its first acquisition:
Beacon Building Products, a leading distributor in the sector.

We are building a customer‑focused, tech‑enabled, and innovation‑driven business that will scale rapidly through accretive M&A, organic growth, and greenfield expansion. Our strategy is rooted in delivering exceptional customer experiences, improving operational efficiency, and leveraging data, digital tools, and AI to modernize a historically under‑digitized industry.

What you'll do:

The Director of Data Product Architecture will define how QXO structures, designs, and delivers data as a strategic product—ensuring it is usable, interoperable, and capable of generating business value across both internal operations and external commercial opportunities. This role will establish the architectural blueprint for domain‑aligned data products, guiding how data is modeled, exposed, and consumed through governed interfaces, APIs, and shared standards.

Operating at the intersection of data architecture, product strategy, and business enablement, this leader will shape the foundational principles of QXO’s data ecosystem. They will drive the adoption of data product thinking, ensuring each product is discoverable, well‑documented, and built with reliability, scalability, and reusability at its core. In addition to supporting analytics and AI use cases, this role will explore external monetization opportunities—such as partner insights, market intelligence, and value‑added data services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define the enterprise architecture for data products, establishing standards for modeling, contracts, APIs, and discovery across domains.
  • Implement data product principles within a data mesh framework, ensuring domain teams deliver interoperable and reusable assets.
  • Partner with business and analytics stakeholders to translate strategic use cases into data product roadmaps and architectural designs, ensuring internal data products support core business needs, operational efficiency, and AI enablement.
  • Develop standardized data contracts, APIs, and access patterns to ensure clarity between producers and consumers.
  • Govern metadata requirements, documentation practices, and discoverability through catalogs and registries.
  • Evaluate and guide opportunities for external data monetization, including partner insights, commercial APIs, and data-as-a-product offerings.
  • Collaborate with platform engineering, analytics, and MLOps teams to ensure data products are designed for performance, security, and long‑term scalability.
  • Drive consistency in how data products are deployed, versioned, accessed, and evolved across domain teams.
  • Provide architectural oversight for data product lifecycle management—from design and certification through enhancement and deprecation.
  • Contribute to data governance forums, guiding strategic architectural decisions and ensuring adherence to product standards.
  • Champion the adoption of data product principles across federated teams, enabling a shift from data “projects” to sustainable products.
  • Mentor architects and engineering leads on modern data architecture practices, federated product ownership, and domain‑driven design.
What you'll bring:
Required
  • 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise data design, with increasing leadership responsibility.
  • Proven expertise designing data models, APIs, and integration patterns for analytics, AI, and operational use cases.
  • Proven ability to define and scale architecture frameworks, standards, and governance mechanisms across multiple teams.
  • Strong understanding of modern data platforms (e.g., Big Query, Dataplex, Databricks, GCP services) and data delivery patterns.
  • Strong ability to translate business strategy into technical architecture and work across domain and platform teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to…
