Bradley Hospital, an affiliated teaching hospital of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, has an exciting opening for a child and family psychologist to join the Pediatric Anxiety Research Center’s (PARC) Partial Hospital Program for OCD and Anxiety Disorders. This is the chance to join a nationally recognized, multidisciplinary, world-class program in pediatric OCD and anxiety.
- This is a half-time, clinically focused position working with a seasoned and passionate multidisciplinary team in an exposure-focused, day hospital program.
- Work with adolescent patients ages 12-18 years, and their families, who are in need of stabilization, assessment, and intensive treatment at the partial hospital program (PHP) level-of-care.
- Treat 3 adolescent cases in the DBT-X Track who are likely to benefit from a combination of exposure therapy and DBT.
- The DBT-X Track is designed for teens with severe OCD and/or other functionally impairing anxiety disorders that co-occur with emotional and interpersonal dysregulation, suicidal ideation and/or non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) behaviors.
- Patient population also has high levels of co-occurring conditions, including ADHD, autism, major depressive disorder, family conflict/relational issues. Patients represent a diverse population in terms of gender identity and sexual orientation.
- Function as a primary clinician on a multidisciplinary team providing team-based care coordination, treatment planning, diagnostic assessments, individual and family therapies, and parent guidance treatments. In addition, clinicians in our program oversee and supervise the exposure-based therapies that occur in the program milieu, in patient homes, schools, and in the community, as well as overseeing DBT skills coaching visits with families.
- Serve as the leader of the treatment team for the assigned caseload, supervising Exposure Coaches who lead milieu-based exposures and home/school/community visits, and support the responsibilities of program operations.
- Participate in weekly DBT consultation team with clinicians (Psychologists, Psychiatrist) and Exposure Coaches.
- Teaching and supervision opportunities within the broader system may be available, with a Clinical Faculty appointment to Brown University Medical School.
- Options to co-lead DBT parent/caregiver skills and education group and/or adolescent DBT skills training groups.
- Collaborative research opportunities may be available.
- PhD or PsyD and clinical postdoctoral internship from APA-accredited programs required, Child/Family specialization preferred.
- Postdoctoral experience with Child/Family emphasis preferred.
- Experience with exposure therapy and/or DBT preferred, and willingness for continued education and consultation on exposure and DBT required.
- Licensed or license-eligible in Rhode Island.
- Passion for working with adolescents and families with emotion dysregulation.
- Team-oriented professional and a desire to work collaboratively in a team-based care model for adolescents and their caregivers struggling with complex psychosocial and behavioral health needs, anxiety/OCD, and emotional and interpersonal dysregulation.
