SUMMARY
In collaboration with the classroom team, is responsible for assisting the Special Education Teacher with the implementation of effective academic and social-emotional programming for assigned students. In collaboration with the classroom team, assists in the formulation of social-emotional and behavioral programming consistent with students’ IEPs. Implements social-emotional and behavioral programming consistent with students’ IEPs. Assists students with activities of daily life such as toileting and other forms of self-care. Collects and manages data on social-emotional and behavioral functioning for assigned students. Prepares and presents verbal and/or written reports concerning social-emotional and behavioral functioning for assigned students.
Assists in implementation of the academic and social-emotional curricula as directed by the classroom teacher and team leader. Provides academic support to students as directed by the classroom teacher. Prepares and submits required paperwork for the student record. Attends and participates in classroom team meetings and other student-related meetings as assigned. Attends and participates in supervisory sessions, staff meetings or other meetings as assigned.
Observes all Bradley Schools policies, rules and regulations. Performs other duties as required, assigned, or directed.
Employees are expected to utilize de-escalation techniques taught by LSS to minimize need for physical intervention. They must remain calm during a crisis and make quick rational decisions to prioritize student care needs and ensure safety. Physical management of students may include safe body positioning, blocking or deflecting aggression, and physically holding struggling students using approved methods for safety.
Physical requirements:
lift up to fifty pounds; reach with arms; grasp and hold; bend/squat/kneel without limitation; escort students who may become combative for short distances. Occasional running and frequent standing, walking, and sitting required.
- Education:
Baccalaureate Degree preferred with a major in education or related human service fields. - Basic knowledge of data entry/management programs such as Excel. Training provided.
- Bradley Hospital Safety Care Certification.
- Prior experience working with children is helpful.
- Performs independently within department policies and practices.
- Consults supervisor for complex problems requiring clarification of policies and procedures.
- Must remain calm during a crisis and make quick rational decisions in a psychologically stressful environment.
- Physical strength and endurance to lift up to 50 lbs, bend/squat/kneel, and escort students.

None.
$19.03 - $31.39 per hour
