The Network Services Division within Caterpillar IT currently has an opening for an IT Manager with responsibility for Local Area Network (LAN), Wireless LAN (WLAN), and Network Access Controls (NAC). This group is responsible for network administration and support in the Americas, as well as service owner accountability worldwide. As part of the Network Services organization, the selected candidate will have an opportunity to work directly with enterprise locations globally to design and support LAN/WLAN/NAC architecture in support of their growing business needs.

What You Will Do:

Manage a team of approximately 25 individuals across multiple global locations comprised of Caterpillar full‑time, agency, and managed service partners delivering the following services:

  • Americas network administration and support for the LAN, WLAN, and NAC.
  • Enterprise network architecture for LAN/WLAN/NAC services
  • Procurement of network LAN/WLAN/NAC components, software, global maintenance agreements, and statement of work contracts
  • Asset management of LAN/WLAN/NAC assets
  • Vulnerability management of LAN/WLAN/NAC components
  • Leadership and career development support, as well as regular performance evaluations and feedback
  • Manage relationships with LAN/WLAN/NAC hardware suppliers
  • Monitor and drive improvement to enterprise LAN/WLAN/NAC services
  • Manage an IT expense budget of $15M+ USD / year
  • Manage the Caterpillar IT Offer‑to‑Sell process for LAN/WLAN/NAC services
  • Manage relationships with internal and external suppliers
  • Manage procurement of network components, software, global maintenance agreements, and statement of work contracts
  • Manage strategic IT projects including the continuous refresh of enterprise network LAN/WLAN/NAC infrastructure
  • Manage the development of strategic IT roadmaps for LAN/WLAN/NAC services
  • Manage risk vulnerabilities for LAN/WLAN/NAC components
  • Manage team documentation to ensure standard work is defined, monitored, and supported to achieve and maintain compliance to internal policies and procedures, including those relating to Cybersecurity and IT General Controls
  • Serve as escalation point for LAN/WLAN/NAC‑related incident tickets as defined by ITSM processes

  • Leadership:

  • Vendor/Supplier Management:
    Knowledge of external provider management processes and ability to effectively manage the business relationship with external providers (e.g. vendors, service providers, contractors, consultants and suppliers).

    Knowledge of the critical competencies required to achieve intended results; ability to generate consistent approaches for hiring, selection, retaining and leveraging talent across the organization
  • Managing Multiple Priorities:
    Knowledge of effective self‑management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
  • Analytical Thinking:
    Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
