It’s known for its peaceful waters, boating and fishing access, environmental stewardship as a Certified Clean Marina, and additional offerings like valet service and on-site marine parts and service.
Salary: $32 – $40 per hour (based on experience)
Job SummaryOur client is seeking a Lead Marine Technician to inspect, maintain, and repair a variety of boats while leading a team of marine technicians. You will ensure optimal performance of engines, hulls, rigging, sails, and onboard systems. This role requires expertise in marine mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional service to marina members.
Responsibilities- Lead and mentor a team of marine technicians, assigning tasks and ensuring work is completed efficiently and safely.
- Conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs on all types of boats.
- Utilize diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and repair marine systems.
- Install and test sanitation, refrigeration, electrical, steering, and accessory systems.
- Replace, remove, and install vessel components as needed.
- Assess job requirements, including budgeted time and completion deadlines.
- Assign parts and purchases to the appropriate vessels/tickets.
- Maintain and utilize own tools effectively.
- Be available for overtime to meet deadlines.
- Adhere to safety protocols and report all incidents immediately.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school training preferred.
- 2–5 years of marine technician experience preferred.
- ABYC and/or manufacturer certifications preferred.
- Experience with both gas and diesel engines preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, and ascend/descend ladders.
- Basic boat handling skills preferred.
- Strong leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
