ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned. The EAST LYME Registered Nurse shall:

• Maintain current health records and emergency medical information on all students as directed by state regulations.
• Implement screening programs mandated by the State of Connecticut.
• Develop individual nursing care plans to meet the cultural, educational, emotional, mental, physical, and social needs of students, when needed.
• Participate in developing policies and procedures to ensure optimal health of staff and students.
• Attend team meetings as indicated by students' individual needs, including 504 plans and PPTs.
• Provide OSHA training and Hepatitis B injections as requested by EAST LYME.
• Collaborate with agencies within and outside the community to ensure continuity of service and care.
• Participate in continuing education to update knowledge and skills, and engage in professional organizations.
• Lift/restrain students when necessary.
• Maintain a working relationship with EAST LYME school medical advisor.
• Participate in planning, evaluating, and promoting the school health program (health services, health education, school environment).
• Plan for health care emergency protocols, transportation, and classroom adaptations for students with special health needs.
• Use systematic problem-solving to assess student health, diagnose, plan interventions, anticipate outcomes, and evaluate results.
• Provide first aid and emergency care.
