Position: Independent Contractor – Office of the CE
Independent Contractor – Office of the CE – 4 months
Rate Per Hour: 577.00
Based at Head Office

To provide strategic support to the Chief Executive Officer by facilitating the strategic planning session, review the organisation’s strategic documents, and compile the associated documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Masters (MBA) in Strategy Management or Business Administration/Management, a PHD in related fields will be an added advantage (Attach Qualification)
Minimum Experience:
  • The incumbent must have experience in the development and review of Organisational Strategies and Corporate plans in the Water Services Sector (Attach minimum 3 reference letters)
  • Extensive experience in a compliance regulation environment
  • 3 years of leadership experience which includes co ordinating and developing Strategic Plans, Corporate Plans and Annual and Operational Plans.
  • Understanding of best Governance Practices including King V and integrated reporting as well as PFMA, National Treasury Regulations
  • Understand relevant water sector policies and trends
  • Strong knowledge of business principles and business acumen.
  • Strong knowledge of the water sector at large.
Other Requirements needed:
  • Have experience on compliance regulation – Strategy, Performance, Risk, Auditing and Governance.
  • Completed Projects in Strategy Document Development and Review, Strategy Planning Facilitation and Strategy Plans Finalisation within Water Services Sector
  • Computer literacy is a requirement
  • Strong communication , Presentation and Negotiation Skills
  • Excellent report writing skills
Key Accountabilities
  • Conduct a one-day briefing and planning session with the Acting Senior Manager:
    Strategy and the Chief Executive prior to the Management Strategy Session.
  • Facilitate a one-day Management Strategy Session.
  • Facilitate a rigorous and participatory one-day Strategic Planning Session with the Board and Management, during which the Amatola Water Organisational Strategy, Corporate Plan, Annual Performance Plan, and Shareholder’s Compact will be unpacked and reviewed.
  • Guide Management and the Board on innovative methodologies to activate strategic initiatives and capitalise on growth opportunities in line with the approved Growth Strategy.
  • Review Amatola Water’s strategic documentation and ensure alignment between the Organisational Strategy, Corporate Plan, Shareholder’s Compact, Annual Performance Plan, and relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct research and undertake PESTEL, SWOT, and other relevant strategic analyses to inform the reviewed Corporate Plan.
  • Conduct sectoral research on water sector deliverables and ensure alignment of Amatola Water’s Vision, Mission, and Strategic Objectives with Key Performance Areas (KPAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the reviewed Corporate Plan and Shareholder’s Compact.
  • Identify areas of non-performance and/or strategic challenges and propose appropriate remedial actions for the next business cycle.
  • Present draft strategic documentation and reports to the Management Committee (MANCO) of Amatola Water (one day).
  • Conduct a one-day briefing session with the Acting Senior Manager:
    Strategy, the Chief Executive, and the Board Chairperson prior to the Board Strategy Session.
  • Review and refine technical indicator descriptions for all performance indicators to ensure effective monitoring, evaluation, and reporting throughout the financial year.
  • Present the final close-out reports to the Board and Management of Amatola Water (one day).
  • Assist with the preparation of the DWS appraisal session requirements.
