Overview

Hire Resolve is seeking a Principal Engineer for our client, an experienced Civil Engineering Technologist or Civil Engineer, to join the Infrastructure Business Unit. This role involves managing a variety of assignments within the Civil Engineering field. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, controlling, and leading various infrastructure projects, while offering expert recommendations on alternative solutions to engineering challenges.

Responsibilities:

Plan and manage project scope, time, cost, and quality.

Adhere to project approval procedures and quality plans.

Compile accurate project cost estimates and cash flow projections.

Interact with clients to understand and meet project needs.

Assist in preparing tender evaluation reports and recommending project teams.

Compile project team specifications and oversee tendering.

Lead site investigations and feasibility studies.

Prepare and review project feasibility and design reports.

Assess sustainability and environmental impacts.

Review preliminary design plans and calculations for compliance.

Ensure compliant detailed designs using approved software.

Resolve design challenges promptly.

Attend design and project coordination meetings.

Administer project tasks and responsibilities.

Compile contract documentation and ensure accurate measurements.

Prepare project status reports and funding agency reports.

Manage client-contractor contracts.

Review contractor payments and prepare variation orders.

Liaise with clients, professionals, contractors, and subcontractors.

Monitor contractor work and manage budgets/resources.

Ensure projects comply with legal requirements.

Maintain safe working environments.

Oversee CAD for engineering drawings and project reports.

Resolve technical issues and enforce contractual obligations.

Implement quality management system (QMS) across projects

Requirements:

BSc Eng or BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering

Registered with ECSA as PrEng / Pr. Technologist

Minimum of 8 years’ post-qualification experience

Experience in Civil Engineering projects, with additional expertise in bulk water supply and sewerage disposal being advantageous

Strong background in client liaison, understanding client needs, and initiating engineering solutions

Good communication skills – both written and oral

Organized, motivated, and goal-oriented

Ability to work independently and as part of both in-person and virtual teams

Efficient under pressure
