Overview
2nd Shift CNC Machinist with 3+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC machinery, working on parts 12 inches or over in diameter, preferably in an aerospace environment. Must be able to use hand tools, measuring instruments, and gauges to ensure proper setups and machining operations. Ability to operate multiple machines at the same time and apply basic machining principles and GD&T.
Excellent oral and written communication and strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Work independently with or without minimal direction from senior personnel in the functional area.
- Follow established quality and safety standards.
- Receive work instructions, operation sheets, setup sheets, 1st piece and in-process check sheets from department supervision indicating such information as part and operation number to be performed.
- Read and interpret dimensional drawings, tool setup sheets and manufacturing instructions in performing required machining operations.
- Operate various types of computer numeric controlled production machines in the machining of forgings made from metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, chrome-nickel, Inconel, and titanium; machine forgings to close tolerances (e.g., ±0.001); operate multiple machines at the same time.
- Perform basic machine setup with or without minimal direction from senior personnel in the functional area.
- Load and unload pieces manually or with hoist; apply coolant lubricant and change worn or damaged tools as required.
- Use precision or standard measuring devices (inside/outside micrometers, dial indicators, Vernier scales, fixed frame gauges or special gauges, profilometers, etc.) to check machined dimensions and surface finishes per customer prints and specifications.
- Exercise care in handling material before and after the machining operation.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Authority to perform all tasks/activities responsible for.
- 3+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC machinery, working on parts 12 inches or over in diameter, preferably in an aerospace environment.
- Ability to use hand tools, measuring instruments, and gauges to ensure proper setups and machining operations.
- Ability to operate multiple machines at the same time.
- Basic machining principles.
- GD&T.
- Excellent oral and written communication.

- Strong analytical skills to analyze and resolve difficult problems effectively and implement long-term solutions.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
