Stone Fabrication Production Manager

You will support AFC’s mission to be the best subcontractor on every project by leading AFC’s stone fabrication to become the premier stone fabricator in the Northeast. You will be accountable for implementing the AFC Production System to differentiate the team from its competitors and always:

AFC’s expansion and demonstrating a skillset for managing and leading others.

Be the safety leader for AFC’s site in East Hartford and work with company leadership to implement and maintain a program that ensures every person on site is safe.

Stone fabrication has inherent risk of serious injury due to the size and weight of materials and equipment. Safety is the #1 priority.

• Build, coach and retain a high-performance team. Implement cross-training and standardized work to support operational stability and internal mobility for teammates.
• Implement total quality management (TQM) in which every teammate is committed to maintaining high standards of work in every aspect, thereby ensuring zero defects to both internal and external customers.
• Clearly understand and communicate the voice of the customer (VOC) – both internal and external – to ensure 100% on time delivery to customer expectations.
• Implement AFC’s Production System in stone fabrication – a culture of continuous improvement, “zero defect” policy, and respect for others rooted in the principles of the Toyota Production System (TPS) – to drive out waste and reduce cost.
• Implement lean daily management and key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with company and customer requirements. Develop the leading and lagging metrics required to ensure KPIs are achieved.
• Establish accurate standard times and labor content by observing processes, defining tasks, and validating cycle times. Utilize this for scheduling, staffing, equipment, and continuous improvement.
• Implement total productive maintenance (TPM) - with emphasis on autonomous maintenance – to ensure equipment and processes are available when needed.
• Lead with integrity, honesty, and respect. Foster open, candid communication at all levels of the company.

• A solid understanding and ability to enforce workplace safety standards
• Three or more years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
• Experience implementing continuous improvement and problem-solving methodologies
• Proven ability to supervise and lead a small production team to meet objectives
• Demonstrated skill in production planning, scheduling, coordinating workflows
• Hands-on knowledge of fabrication tools and CNC machinery
• Familiarity with basic production or management software

• Formal training in continuous improvement or problem-solving methodologies
• Formal training in total productive or preventative maintenance
• CNC/CAD training or experience
• Spanish as a second language
• Experience specific to construction, flooring, tile, or stone
• Bachelor’s degree in a subject related to manufacturing, engineering, or business administration

• Reports directly to the Vice President of Operations.
• Supervises 6 to 12 technicians.
• Internally support Project Managers to meet customer expectations.
• Authority to conduct responsibilities of site safety leader.
